This is the first oil painting of Elvis that I painted back in 1974. I won second place in an art show and after the show the news media made a joke about the time Elvis could only be filmed from the waist up on TV and then they turned around and showed it from waist down on the news that night!
PAINTED IN 1974
My portraits of Elvis are known around the world and much sought after.
After the sale of three of my Elvis portraits in 1976, to Boxcar Enterprises which is now EPE, they had beautiful reproductions of my artwork created and sold at Elvis' Concerts. The three posters later became part of "The Elvis Presley Concert Tour Souvenir Collection". I was the only artist at that time to have such an honor. The rest of the collection included some fantastic photos of Elvis. Col Parker had a big say in the locations where they, the posters, were to be shown.
Elvis gave framed reproductions to Kathy Westmoreland, Ginger Alden and several of his other close friends. I was told by Ginger that Elvis loved my work. Even Col. Tom Parker was very pleased with my portrait paintings as was Vernon Presley. My artwork still is in the archives of EPE and is rotated in turn to be shown.
I was taught the old versions of the European Method of sunder painting with the old masters techniques and since I don't always hold firm to the techniques when I use oil paints, the canvas can take quite awhile to finish. I also paint animals and landscapes and I love to do computer digital artwork.
While you visit my site I would be so pleased if you have the time to sign my guest book.

I AM NOT TAKING COMMISSION WORK AT THIS TIME.
I've been painting since I can remember but I was actually in my twenties before I had the beginnings of a real love affair with oils. I love to do portraits but I like to relax and do a landscape from time to time.
I paint in oils in the method of the old masters. The method of under painting has captured me with the love of a mother nurturing her child. I paint and correct and change and correct but in the end the painting like a child grows to be the work of art that it was meant to be all the time. The going is usually slow and I do not have many pieces for sale at one given time. Due to my health I can no longer take commission work but I have new work available from time to time.
